ABOUT
Shekeres, rattles and maracas are used in many cultures to call to the muertos / ancestors during prayer, or when communicating with them. Also known as tamaracas, rattles of divination.
."Palo" means tree, and it was considered sacred spirits, because where the souls of the dead lived,
the intimate relationship of the spirits of the dead with the earth, the mountain, the tree, the water. Those who are dead are never gone. They are beneath the earth, the quivering tree, the groaning wood, the flowing and still water...
