ABOUT:
Siete Rayos (meaning seven lightning bolts), also known as Nsambi Munalembe is one of the main mpungos within the Mayombe stick. Nsasi (Bantu), Mukiamamuilo, Mariwanga are names associated with him, but many claim his one true name is 7 Rays. Syncretism around the Mpungo associate him with orisha Shango / Sango and Santa Barbara respectively.
Siete Rayos is a highly masculine, volitile diety, and aggressively protects his children and devotees. Recognized for his connection with the elements of nature, mainly lightning, fire and war. He is considered the pattern of justice, war and dance, and not only represents the power of these natural forces, but also their influence on the life and destiny of human beings. Siete Rayos identifies particularly with the most drastic and destructive aspects of nature, relating to thunder, lightning and drums. He is the king of fire, a weapon with which he attacks his enemies, who end up being victims of sudden and casual fire. Working slow, but discreetly and very firmly so that his victims do not realize that they are being worked on until it is too late, and the damage is done with lasting effects.
A generous but also demanding spirit, requiring respect and loyalty, who will sometimes punish those who lack these conditions. The Paleros and the practitioners of Palo Mayombe are responsible for maintaining a balanced and respectful relationship with this powerful spirit.
